Episode 51: John Lennon 80 with Dave Morrell
Oct 6, 2020
Oct 6, 2020
1hr 53 min
To celebrate what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday, we are pleased to welcome Dave Morrell. Beginning as a teen in the 1970s, he amassed such an impressive collection of Beatles memorabilia that when John Lennon heard about it, he promptly asked to meet him. This would begin a series of meetings where Dave would delight John with rare Beatles footage.
Morrell subsequently worked in promotions for several record labels, including Capitol. He not only got to work on a Lennon project, but on Paul McCartney’s Press to Play. We discuss Dave’s friendship with John as well as his latest book, Run-Out Groove: Inside Capitol's 1980s Hits & Stiffs.
